Millennial Age

Chart of the Ages

The Millennial Age (G on the above chart) is the first age in the Ages to Come. One thousand years in length, it hosts Christ’s earthly kingdom which will recover the human family from the depths of sin and death and bring them back to harmony with God. During this age, Christ and the church will reign as kings after the order of Melchizadek. (Rev. 5:9,10; Matt. 19:28) The purpose of this priesthood is to bring man back to perfection. (Heb. 7:11)

During the same time, our returned Lord will bind Satan for 1000 years and throw him into the bottomless pit that he will deceive the nations no more. (Rev. 20:2,3) This will allow the judgments of the Lord and the message of truth and righteousness to spread worldwide and train mankind in righteousness. “For when the earth experiences Your judgments The inhabitants of the world learn righteousness.” (Isa. 26:9 NASB)

The merit of Christ’s righteousness will be applied to mankind removing the curse of sin and death. Mankind will be healed of all their diseases and given perfect, physical bodies because they have been forgiven of their sins. (Isa. 33:24) During this kingdom, “all who are in the tombs will hear His voice, (29) and will come forth; those who did the good deeds to a resurrection of life, those who committed the evil deeds to a resurrection of judgment.” (John 5:28,29 NASB) “Those who did the good deeds” describes the church who are resurrected to their spiritual reward and share with Christ in ruling over his earthly kingdom. “Those who committed the evil deeds” describes everyone else who will be raised from the dead to learn righteousness and be judged according to their works in Christ’s kingdom.

John describes this judgment in Rev. 20: 12,13 (NASB): “And I saw the dead, the great and the small, standing before the throne, and books were opened; and another book was opened, which is the book of life; and the dead were judged from the things which were written in the books, according to their deeds. (13) And the sea gave up the dead which were in it, and death and Hades gave up the dead which were in them; and they were judged, every one of them according to their deeds.” Christ and the church will judge Israel, men and angels in righteousness for the deeds done in his kingdom. (Matt. 19:28; 1 Cor. 6:2,3)

To help mankind pass the judgment, God will His spirit upon all flesh, remove man’s stony heart and give him a heart of flesh on which God’s commandments may be written. “Moreover, I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit within you; and I will remove the heart of stone from your flesh and give you a heart of flesh. (27) I will put My Spirit within you and cause you to walk in My statutes, and you will be careful to observe My ordinances. ” (Ezek. 36:26,27) In this kingdom “they will all know Me, from the least of them to the greatest of them” because ” and “they will not hurt or destroy in all My holy mountain, For the earth will be full of the knowledge of the LORD As the waters cover the sea.” (Jer. 31:34 NASB; Isa. 11:9 NASB)

Christ and the church will cast up a highway, the “highway of holiness”, that mankind will be able to walk up to perfection of heart and mind and thus, harmony with God and perfect, everlasting life here upon the earth. (Isa. 35:8; Isa. 62:10) On this highway, there will be no ravenous beasts (Satan, fallen angels, tyrant men) to hamper mankind from learning righteousness and obeying God. (Isa. 35:9) All of the obstacles or stones that stumble mankind from serving God (poverty, starvation, illness, oppression, violence, substance abuse, etc.) will also be removed. (Isa. 62:10) The ransomed of the Lord will walk on that highway back to harmony with God. (Isa. 35:10)

Under this kingdom, God will establish a New Covenant with the house of Israel and the house of Judah. (Jer. 31:31-33) Israel will dwell safely in their own land (Canaan) and none shall make them afraid. (Jer. 30:10) Christ and the church will be the mediator of this covenant. (Heb. 12:24) The rest of the world will see Israel’s blessings under this covenant and will come to learn of God. “And many peoples will come and say, “Come, let us go up to the mountain of the LORD, To the house of the God of Jacob; That He may teach us concerning His ways And that we may walk in His paths.” For the law will go forth from Zion And the word of the LORD from Jerusalem. (4)  And He will judge between the nations, And will render decisions for many peoples; And they will hammer their swords into plowshares and their spears into pruning hooks. Nation will not lift up sword against nation, And never again will they learn war. ” (Isa. 2:3,4 NASB)

At the end of the age, a final test of man’s heart condition will be done in the little season. (Rev. 20:7-10) Those who fail will be destroyed forever with Satan. The vast majority, however, will pass the test and inherit the kingdom prepared for them since the foundation of the world. (Matt. 25:34) This will fulfill God’s covenant with Abraham and bring His plan of salvation for mankind to its completion.
