Answer: After the church is completed and joined together with her bridegroom as the bride via the marriage of the lamb, the church will share in various aspects of our Lord’s work. (Rev. 19:7,8) She will assist our Lord in the tearing down of this present evil world so that Christ’s earthly kingdom might be established. She will be given “authority over the nations” ruling them “with a rod of iron as the vessels of the potter are broken to pieces” as Jesus has received similar authority. (Rev. 2:26 NASB) Together, they will cleanse the earth of its unrighteous nations, institutions, religions, etc. so that mankind can learn righteousness.
Then she will function as a royal priesthood (kings and priests) under our Lord’s direction sharing his throne and reigning with him over mankind for 1,000 years. (1 Peter 2:9,10; Rev. 3:21; 20:6) As part of our Lord’s Melchizadek priesthood, she will help teach the human family righteousness and guide them up the “Highway of Holiness” back to mental, moral and physical perfection, sonship with God and everlasting life. (Isa. 35:8; Heb. 7:11) God will “give You [the Christ] for a covenant [New Covenant] of the people, To restore the land, to make them inherit the desolate heritages.” (Isa. 49:8 NASB) The Christ [Jesus and the church] will be the mediator of the New Covenant that will bring Israel and all mankind back into harmony with God. (Heb. 12:24)
In its role as priest and king, the church will be responsible for both teaching and judging both mankind and angels with regard to righteousness. “Do you not know that the saints will judge the world? … (3) Do you not know that we will judge angels?” (1 Cor. 6:2,3 NASB) Jesus added with respect to the 12 apostles, “Truly I say to you, that you who have followed Me, in the regeneration when the Son of Man will sit on His glorious throne, you also shall sit upon twelve thrones, judging the twelve tribes of Israel.” (Matt. 19:28 NASB)
